I have been a big Royals fan for over 20 years. And if you have been around like myself, there has been nothing from the Royals to root for since 1985. So for years I have worn my Royals hat, and my grandpa’s Royals belt buckle, and everyone would pat me on the head like a little kid. “oh, aren’t you cute, cheering for the Royals.” Well no more sad faces, the Kansas City Royals are awesome! I took my dad to the Wild Card game last year, and it was such a huge roller coaster of emotions. We were winning, than losing, than tied in extra innings, than overflowing joy……hi fives, hugging strangers, dancing in the streets JOY!!!!
During that playoff run, the afterglow of the off season and the 2015 amazing run, I was amazed by the rallying support for the Royals. The support came from everywhere. It was not just local, but nationwide. Not just sports junky dudes, but from casual sporties, kids, and females! All of the sudden there cool new thirsts, women wearing blingy Royals gear, and wives and girlfriends, wanting to go to the games. This is not meant to be sexist, but Royals games of the past we’re filled with nerdy, sarcastic, jaded old guys wishing George Brett was still on the field. I too longed for those winning days of the early 80’s but, the fun at the park now days is so much more fun!!!
So all of that said, I was talking with my good friend Vilma who owns Xiphium Salon. We collaborate on fashion work often. I was sharing my love of the Royals, and my excitement for the new community fandom, and how cool to see all the powerful ladies in the house. She mentioned an amazing blue dress she saw by designer Whitney Marie Rorah, and it was off and running. Hair Stylist Geena Mericle and Designer Michael Armstrong made the crown on a 3D printer. The hardest part was finding the perfect chair….. During our Fountain City Studio staff meeting I was sharing I needed a gothic “Royal” chair. Josh Watts spoke up and said he had a friend with lots of crazy furniture. We were off and running with our Kansas City Royals fashion photography. Jeff Edmonsond thanks for the amazing 1740 hard carved Lion Head Chair! Bring in Tricia Rivas from Trixies Salon to do makeup, and wonderful model Ami Beck who owns Dolyn Bags, Boom, Dreamteam!
To put a cherry on top KC Magazine decided to do a story and publish our images!
I hope you enjoy the images. We sure had fun with this KC-centric fashion photography shoot. Please share with your Royals friends. Life is all good in the Kansas City baseball world!
